but yeah i get you on him being the most popular and the fan favorite. but even tho L is my fave and my frog prince i will be pretty disappointed if it’s just about him? like if you ever see dn merchandise and t-shirts and stuff at cons it’s just like LOOK LOOK IT’S L LOOK AT HIS FUCKING FROG FACE and then like light is off in the background really small and sometimes misa’s there but it’s like? i love L but not as the ~quirky lovable selling point of death note. he’s the antagonist and he’s a fuckin dweeb on top of it and imo he works best within the context of canon in the role that he is in - this kind of elusive weirdo mirror-version of the actual protagonist.

i just mean, i find him so likable because he’s kind this weird ass jagged enigmatic thing in the corner that bends itself into shapes and making him into the ~hero of his own story~ (which has been known to work fantastically well at times in fic) requires the kind of character exploration that ohba and obata usually tend to forgo for plot.

so i would love to see new L stuff because let’s face it i fuckin adore him so much that it’s a problem, but not just because he’s the one that will make the crowd go wild. i’d rather a more full and even view of the cast for the 10th anniversary than just another bit of L fodder.
