WAIT YOU HAVEN’T HEARD ABOUT THIS ????

omfg near is one of my least favorites (i do actually like him i just don’t have ???? HEART POUNDING LOVE FOR HIM? also i’m not at all attracted to him the way i am pretty much every other major character, so that’s probably a contributing factor.) i do like that he’s a little shit tho and kind of cut-throat, but also sort of floundering when it comes to stuff outside of his profession - like daily life shit. i hate seeing him characterized as the shota bb twink bc he’s like the literal opposite

and DOUBLE DITTO on L because he is cute as hell and does all the weird, quirky, charming shit that people love him for - but a lot of poeple seem to skip over the fact that he just, like, HOLDS YOUNG WOMEN AGAINST THEIR WILL FOR WEEKS STRAPPED TO WEIRD HARD BONDAGE GEAR and OBSTRUCTS LAWFUL JUSTICE at pretty much all points. and that doesn’t that he doesn’t do a lot of admirable stuff and save people and solve crimes, or that he’s ‘evil’ or something, just that he plays just as dirty as kira, only he’s far more subtle and far more? admissible bc he’s not so OVER THE TOP about everything. i just find him fascinating because he’s so dejected and determined at the same time, and so ~omg tactless~ but completely controlled at the same time and that’s just
