wow anon i don’t know how far you dug into this blog to find me talking about draco/harry but hello!

i didn’t actually give a shit about it either way apart from tom felton and daniel radcliffe being adorable about each other in interviews, and was really into draco/hermione for a while (which is the bomb diggity and has a few really good fics) and then h/d for the porn because i’m shallow

but along the way i ran into some really really good fanfiction (which, when something is popular enough, it ends up inevitably having) of the relationship/character development sort?

idk i just 1) really like draco malfoy, but don’t like him being treated like some tragic badass, bc he’s a little shit with enough character flaws to fill a small island, and when writers actually take his weakness and fallibility and utter dorkiness into account but also manage to make him complex and well rounded and likable - and without even any lucius flavored abuse! - i think it’s fantastic

and 2) in pretty much all good - imo, anyway - h/d fic there’s this theme of ‘growing up, getting over yourself, and dealing with your shit.’ eternal grudges are more dramatic, sure, but realistically you’re not gonna be the same person you were at 16 forever and you’re gonna realize that a lot of the things you said and did were full of shit. except in canon? with the whole 'and i saw draco malfoy 8 billion years later and he was balding and it was sort of okay’ just makes me depressed bc it’s like? missed opportunities, man. just staying in your respective corners.

i guess what i really like is character growth fic for draco (and harry, actually bc he’s full of shit in many ways) and i’m actually really really into harry/draco/ron/hermione friendship gen (or, uh, not gen but that’s harder to find)
