can i get a HELL YEAH for high school aus??? no really i’m super cliche and dweeby but i love them. high school is such a great setting for things because it’s so full of all of things that fuck you up and also acts as a microcosm - like a little insular community of your own. also it’s somewhere almost everybody has been and it’s quite a bit easier to write what you know i think?

that said i have yet to run into a dn high school au that i though was particularly good and really took the dynamics to the rad places they could go, you know? (i say hypocritically while pointedly not writing anything better for the 574864th day in a row)

as for the second question, ohoho, lxlight is my favorite (maybe? sort of? but the competition is with lxb and they sometimes overtake one another depending on what mood i’m in). i think misaxlight comes in like third? which is pretty surprising because it’s risen really high in my estimation in the last year

i just think it’s such a fascinating dynamic and one you don’t really see that often (i mean, desperate girl / disinterested boy is rare in western stuff definitely, even tho the genderswapped version is definitely a crowd favorite) but then the dynamics of power are so mixed up and complex because she’s also basically his bodyguard, his number one soldier, and she loves him and he can hardly stand her, but he still rather clings to her long after he technically needs to keep her around, and begs for her to save him as he lies dying and that’s?

that hurts.

so yeah i like lxlight better (probably because the power dynamics are more equal and the abuse is more mutual) but i think misaxlight is a great (aka horrible, which is what i like) pairing in its own right and i like to go on about it bc it gets way less attention than i think it deserves
