I’M SO CONFUSED AND THIS IS LEGITIMATELY CONCERNING TO ME.
This is a panel from the high quality scans of the Japanese release of Death Note that I have.
It’s Near when Light/Raito/whatever you want to call him confronts Near about actually bring Near. He says, “Hai, watashi wa Nia des.” or “Yes, I am Near.” However…
This is that same exact panel from a manga hosting site, which I’m assuming could be from the English translation of the manga (???), but I could be very wrong because I don’t own this particular volume. (It’s from Chapter 67, in Volume 8.)
[ EDIT BECAUSE I FOUND MORE CHANGES ]
Two more changed from that chapter, which is on the next page. Apologies for the shitty quality of the second image and I can’t translate the first one because my Japanese is very rusty. Nevertheless, his expression is obviously changed.
[ END EDIT ]
I just thought I’d like to share and get some opinions on it if this hasn’t already been brought up, because honestly this is a very large difference in personality and a key part of showing exactly how Near handles certain situations.
……. I’m just very confused and lost and wHAT HAPPENED HERE.
