Anonymous: I really need to make some fanmixes, but I always get stuck at the cover art. Your mixes are primo. Can you give me some tips on how to make acceptable cover art that transcends my level of artistic skill but isn't plagiaristic?

hello anon you are very sweet to ask! (and i am stealing the word ‘primo’ for later use bc it is a PRIMO word. look i’m already putting it into practice)

okay well assuming you don’t have photoshop or some other photo editing program for making graphics (bc if you did it would be a pretty straight shot) and if you don’t want to ask an artist for permission to use their fanart as a cover (which is imo the best way to do it bc using it without permission can be quite disrespectful) you could try using some official art or mangacaps as a cover? it really depends on the character/pairing you’re looking for

ALTERNATELY i really like making graphics for people, so if you wanted to come off anon and give me the pairing/character details we could talk about it and i could make you a fanmix cover? (using official art ofc and my questionable editing skills.) you’d have to credit me for that part obviously but unless you have really strict specifications i’m sure i’d be fine with making anything for you?
