oh man you’re very sweet and so is everyone trying to explain this to me but i do know it’s a turn of phrase and that that’s what he was trying to say i was just making a joke

mostly based on the thought that struck me during work which was: ‘hmmmmm mello says he died like a dog but literally his death is about on the same level as everyone else’s in the entire series’ like light died a lot more ‘like a dog’ and even L died kind of randomly and not when actually doing something dangerous and of worth like mello did. like idk if it’s canon or headcanon that he was pretty much prepared to die when he goes after takada and so his death is a lot less senseless and humiliating than most other characters in the series

so the fact that he’s all ‘wahhh i died like a dog’ is like? mello bby? you died that’s what happened there was nothing that doglike about it. takada was naked in a truck and killed by her boyfriend. you got off nicely in comparison sit your pretty blond ass down
