albasti:

Funeral home au where Light is a mortician who sings forties tunes as he tidies up the corpses and runs the busiest cemetery in the city.

Misa is his mortuary makeup artist. She was his first customer back when he started. He laid her parents to rest after they were killed in a home invasion, and she’s been near him ever since. (She intends to keep it that way too; she kinda sorta reserved two side-by-side lots for him and for her “just in case.”) Misa tends to give everyone the same lolita makeup, which is luckily trendy right now.

Mello works cremations, and is fairly good at convincing people to incinerate their loved ones, but that asshole embalmer Near always seems to bury more than he burns.

L is a clergyman and pretty much lives in the chapel at the center of the cemetery. Every day he places flowers on all the graves and talks to them for hours like they were old friends or old enemies or maybe both. No one really knows much about him, but he goes way back with Light. On rainy days, when the chapel’s bells aren’t too loud, the two can be heard playing the organ inside.

(and maybe Beyond is a gravedigger who slips jewelry and watches off wrists and necks before hoisting their owners into the ground, and spends his lunch hour huffing formaldehyde.)
